Nectarine Sorbet

We bought nectarines at Costco today. We did not have any half and half, so I decided to try a sorbet recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds ripe nectarines (about 3 from Costco)
  • 1 cup sugar (may very, depending on ripeness of nectarines)
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (or rum, which I used)
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Pit nectarines, cut into 1/8ths (leaving peels on is fine)
  2. Process in a Vitamin or food processor
  3. Add sugar, salt, orange juice or rum, and lime juice - process some more
  4. Mix in a ice cream maker for 20 minutes (or follow directions)

Carole's Notes:

The flavor was very nice. However, this recipe did not freeze up in our small Krups mixer - maybe due to the rum.
We packed it and froze it, and then it turned into sorbet. Many days later it was still a soft sorbet.

The recipe is lightly adapted from http://www.thekitchn.com/summers-end-nectarine-sorbet-126136
