I made ghost crackers, because Alison posted a link about Halloween food.
Ingredients:
1 cup corn flour (masa harina, NOT corn meal)
1/6 cup corn flour, 1/6 cup parmesan or cheddar cheese shreds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
14 tablespoons water (7 ounces)
1 egg
1/3 cup corn oil
Coarse sea salt
Instructions:
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the the corn flour, cheeses, salt, baking powder, sugar and pepper together.
- In another bowl, whisk the water, egg and oil together. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and whisk until well combined.
- Drop a small cookie scoop of batter (about 1 tablespoon) onto the prepared baking sheets, about 3 inches apart. Spread the batter into oval shapes. Poke holes for eyes and a mouth.
- Sprinkle with salt and bake until the edges are browned and the crackers are crisp, about 18 minutes. Cool on a wire rack and keep in an airtight container for up to three days.
My Notes:
Crackers were lightly adapted from http://www.oregonlive.com/mix/index.ssf/food-trends/make-crackers-yourself-in-a-snap.html
Goes well with graveyard dip (black bean dip - I made one from here: http://www.showfoodchef.com/2012/10/cowboy-black-bean-dip-and-halloween.html )

I also made the olive spiders from http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/973723/spooky-spider-snacks

I made some marbled hard boiled (hard boil eggs, cool. Tap shell all around to crack, but do not peel. Let soak in 1 cup or so of water with a couple of drops of food color for a couple of hours for intense colors. Slice open, make 'spoiled' deviled eggs (I used a wasabi instead of mustard, and some green food coloring)
