Crockpot Hot Dog Bites

Some scouts are coming over to work with Doug on a camping merit badge at noon. First one,  now two of them plan to prepare 'some' camping meals, and share them with the other Scouts. I decided to supplement whatever they made with some hot dog bites in case there is not enough food to share with all.

Ingredients:

  •  2 cups of ketchup
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (or a mix soy sauce and steak sauce)
  • 1 tablespoons Sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 pounds of hot dogs, cut into 4 or 5 'logs' per hot dog
    (I used turkey dogs)

Instructions:

  1. Mix together the sauce ingredients in the bowl of your crockpot.
  2. Stir the cut hot dogs into a slow cooker, coating all with the sauce.
  3. Let cook on low for 4 - 5 hrs (preferrable), or on high for 2 - 3 hours.
  4. Serve with toothpicks, or in a bowl with a spoon.

Carole's Notes:

I added about 1/4 cup more ketchup to the original recipe's 1.5 cups. I will use 2 cups next time, especially if I cook these on high again.

The recipe is lightly adapted from http://damndelicious.net/2014/10/20/slow-cooker-cocktail-sausages/
