Onion Ranch Dip

Here's the healthy-ish ranch dip I sometimes make.

Ingredients:

  • 7 ounces nonfat Greek yogurt or low-fat cottage cheese (I've been using cottage cheese mostly)
  • 1 ounce mayonnaise
  • 1.5 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/16 teaspoon dried dillweed  (use 1/8 or 1/4 teaspoon if not serving to Doug)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (option - add 1 to 2 tablespoons minced chives as well)
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons milk as needed to thin
  • (optional - 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard - I don't add this very often)

Instructions:

  1. If using coittage cheese, whirr in food processor for a minute or so to turn smooth.
  2. Add in mayo and herbs, whirr some more.
  3. Add in dried onion flakes, either stir or whirr them in.
  4. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons milk, as needed. (The onion flakes will soak up some of the moisture.)
  5. Allow sit in refrigerator for 2 hrs to re-hydrate herbs and mix flavors.

Carole's Notes:

Sometimes you want a simple onion dip. We like this!
