Doug was off at dinner with his company, so I decided to make a fancy hot dog.
Ingredients:
Main Dog:
- 2 hot dogs, cooked
- 1 whole wheat wrap
- 2 slices of crisp bacon
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1 teaspoons basil leaves (I skipped this)
Caraway Remoulade:
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon minced Vidalia onion
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped capers (I skipped this)
- 1 teaspoon chopped dill pickle
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds, toasted
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk the mayonnaise, yogurt, onion, capers, pickle and toasted caraway seeds.
- Put the cooked hot dogs in the wrap; top with the bacon and tomatoes.
- Toss the lettuce and basil with some of the caraway remoulade.
- Top the dogs with the slaw.
- Serve any remaining remoulade on the side.
Carole's Notes:
I liked this (broiled hot dog with bacon, lettucem and tomato) - I found it amusing that Food & Wine had a hot dog recipe. The recipe is lightly adapted from https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/blt-hot-dogs-caraway-remoulade
