
Ingredients:
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 butter (1 stick), room temperature
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup walnuts (or pecans)
- 1/2 cup sweetened cocoa flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Lightly grease a 9” square pan with cooking spray or butter.
- With short bursts, process sugar and butter in food processor until well blended, about 20 seconds.
- Add eggs, salt, and cocoa, then process 10 to 15 seconds until smooth.
- Add flour, process 10 to 15 seconds until mixed in.
- Add nuts (and coconut if adding), with short bursts, process until broken up.
- Spread batter in a 9” square pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until no longer moist.
(My mom suggest 25 minutes in a convection oven.) - Cool pan on a wire rack for a few minutes.
- Cut into squares, and allow to finish cooling.
