Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3⁄4 cup sugar
- 3⁄4 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sourdough starter
(the part that I remove when feeding my starter) - 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cups self rising flour
- 2.25 cups all purpose flour
(or use 3.25 cups all purpose plus 1⁄4 teaspoon baking powder and 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda - 1 teaspoon salt
- 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 8 ounces chopped pecans
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, whisk salt and flour together.
(Whisk in baking soda and baking powder if you are using them) - Cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar with a stand mixer.
- Gently mix in the starter until combined
(Mixing in starter by hand is recommended, I’m not sure why) - Mix in the egg and the vanilla.
- Slowly add the flour mixture
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts
- Using a large spatula, spread on a piece of parchment paper on a large cookie sheet (I used my 11 x 17 inch cookie sheet.)
- Bake 22 to 25 minutes, or until starting to turn golden brown on top, and lightly brown around the edges.
- Let cool in the pan on a cooling rack.
- Slide cookie bar and parchment paper onto a cutting board, cut into 30 or so cookies.
Carole's Notes:
The bar version of this cookie is soft and tasty as well. I like the pecans!
Recipe is lightly adapted from http://carolelikesroundfood.blogspot.com/2016/02/sourdough-chocolate-chip-cookies.html which is based on http://www.food.com/recipe/sourdough-chocolate-chip-cookies-487587 - it makes about 30 or so bar cookies depending on how you slice them.
