Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/3 cup butter
3/4 to 1 cup milk
(Optional: 1 cup shredded cheddar)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- In a food processor, whir together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Transfer to a bowl. (Optional: Stir in cheese if adding.)
- Gradually stir in milk until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.
(You may not use a full cup of the milk.) - Dump dough onto a floured surface, and fold over up to 10 times.
(Don't over mix the dough) - Pat dough out to 1 inch thick.
- Cut biscuits with a large cutter dipped in flour.
- Pat scraps back together, and repeat cutting until all dough is used.
- Place biscuits onto parchment paper on the cookie sheet.
- Bake for 13 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown and the edges start to brown.
